Hey LB, you are a straight shooter and there is nothing insulting in your post. I like the things Petraus said and so I disagree with a little of what you said, but hey, you are really spot on in analyzing the political situation and not insulting to the Gen at all.

What's wrong with criticism?  We do still have freedom of speech, don't we?  Here's a good question to ask yourselves....
First, why won't our pentigon report the number of Iraqi civilians killed?  I have read different stats on Iraqi civilian deaths, and can safely say it's between 400,000 and 650,000, due to our invasion.  Second, in the last few months, we've seen and heard story after story, on how there is more violence in Iraq, more of our soldiers getting killed or seriously injured, but the only good report is the one from General Petraus.???  Doesn't that make you suspicious?  We are supposed to stop listening to everyone because of one good report out of 30 bad???  Did good news just spread through Iraq, and everything is fine since we've gotten one positive report?   What happened to the 24 women and children who were executed the day before?  How many soldiers died on the day Petraus gave the report?  Isn't it a contradiction to even suggest that there is  good news to report, when we shouldn't even be there in the first place?  There were no WMD's, they were no threat, no ties to the terrorist or the hijackers, they can't follow us home because they don't have a Navy or Air Force.....LOL, 70% of the Iraqi's want us to leave now, and the Mission was accomplished several years ago!  Well, all but the hydrocarbon oil law....that's what we are waiting for!

you can safely say it is between 400,000 and 650,000? Man, that is some good math!

Do you know how many service people we lost in the full scale global combat of WWII?

How can you even compare this occupation with WWII?

how can you even compare the numbers. That is the problem. You are willing to believe anything like this, with no basis whatsoever.

perhaps you should study war a little bit more.
