Though both Israelis and Palestinians have the same DNA and are very intelligent, the solution to the ongoing problem is easily done and seen.

Give the Pals their remaining homeland from Gaza, the West Bank, and Arab East Jerusalem, and also the undeveloped Negev as the connector to solidify a continuous and not landlocked Palestinian State.  Israel keeps without dispute and gets all the rest.

It can help also to make an internationally-monitored "DMZ" of at least 30 miles wide so as to protect both peoples from each other.

End of problem.

I agree fully. The response by Israel is disproportionate.  Israel must be reign in to show constraint

This is by far disproportionate.  You are right in that, but wrong in where the disproportion takes place.  Israel is finally standing up for its people.  How many years have gone by that they have allowed the neighboring militants to attack them from the shadows of cowardice in their own backyards and places of religious worship.  Israel has made small offensives sufficient only to pacify the enemy for small periods of time.  I don't know where you live, but imagine you live in Vermont.  How tolerant would you be if your neighbors had been launching suicide bombings and small missiles into your country for the past decade?  Now, imagine that the rest of the USA was telling you, "You should not defend yourself.  You must be peaceful and allow these militants to continue to blow you and your people to death day after day."  It is ridiculous that the world is asking Israel to welcome death, something no other country is willing to do.

The Israeli assault on Gaza with outrageous Palestinian casualties...

Because (1) Hamas likes to hide behind and among civilians, and (2) the civilians are happy to let Hamas hide behind and among them.

...exposes Israel as going way too far on invasion and aggression against a ragtag poor people with no military.

...but still somehow able to launch rockets against Israel.

Oh, wait, I forgot about those sticky provisions of International Law...

- Of all countries on this planet, only Israel is permanently barred from defending itself or retaliating against any attack from outside its borders.

- ANY self-defense, retaliation, or complaint by Israel constitutes an initial act of aggression to which Hamas and others are free to respond in ANY manner it sees fit.

Just other Israeli propanda dupe.

Gaza is a concentrtion camp targeted for genocide.  The Gazans cannot get out of their sliver of "territory", nor can others come back in.

The world, at Israel's behest, is starving and denying any kind of energy and other power, leading to mass deaths.  Palestinians are denied having any form of military.  They are all civilians.

My Q 4 Obama is "Can you and your millions of supporters be impartial and even-handed in the Middle East, especially in the "Fertile Crescent"?
