We are talking apples and oranges, DL. First off Bush promised disaster relief to Pakistan on the 14th of February, 2005 Ryan C. Crocker announced that U.S. would make available immediate funding of $100,000 to support disaster relief. Half of the funding would support flood relief in Balochistan, and the other half would to help meet the needs of those affected by avalanche and heavy snows in the Northwest Frontier Province. In addition it was said "$100,000 in emergency funds, the U.S. has offered to make military assets made aircraft available to the Pakistan armed forces if requested to speed delivery of vital supplies to affected areas Furthermore, U.S.-supplied aircraft provided to U.S. supplied aircraft provided to the Ministry of Interior?s 50th Squadron have also been deployed to the Pasni area to assist in search and rescue operations." This Disaster occurred on February 12th. On October 8th, 2005 an earthquake hit Pakistan. The United States was providing initial aid of up to $50 million for reconstruction and relief efforts in Pakistan in the aftermath of the earthquake. ( http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/10/10/quake.us.response/ ) Is it me or is something amiss here, which seemingly is that some reporter or someone got the two Pakistani Disasters confused? Also The President declared a state of emergency 2 to 3 days before Katrina hit in order to get Congress moving on aid. This has been reported many times over. Plus we got aid into the area with in a day or two after the proper authorizations were given, not to mention a pledge of Billions of dollars to rebuild NOLA with in the first week. So where is all this slow response I keep hearing about?
