Wed 3.28: "BAGHDAD - Shiite militants and police enraged by deadly truck bombings went on a shooting rampage against Sunnis in a northwestern Iraqi city Wednesday, killing as many as 70 men execution-style and prompting fears that sectarian violence was spreading outside the capital." Seventy executions, how much blood before it must end? Surge = failure = innocent blood on our hands for supporting the occupation Bring the troops home now!

FORT BRAGG, N.C. Apr 24, 2007 (AP)? The nine U.S. soldiers killed when a truck bomb exploded next to their patrol base in Iraq were all paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division, the division said Tuesday. Twenty of their colleagues were wounded in the attack. The president's plan has failed. The American people want the troops to come home. The president's failed policy in Iraq will cost the Republican party the presidency in the next election. The Democratic candidate will win on a platform of bringing the troops home. Therefore; it's only a matter of time before the troops will withdraw, why not now so we can stop the bloodshed and strengthen our forces fighting terrorism across the world?

Today again 9 Americans were lost, greatwe than 30 Iraq civilians killed. The surge has only lead to more death at an accelerated rate, all against the best advice of thell the Iraq study group. All the executive has brought upon our nation is shame.

Didn't get a chance to read what you replied to because it's no longer there, but I'll see your 'different comparison' and raise you a Clinton administration that decimated our military, put hamstrings on our intelligence and lied repeatedly about 'trying' to kill Usama bin Ladin!!!   Defending America after 9/11 DID include Saddam's regime; which had proven time and time again to be a very viable threat!!!   Just ask the Clinton's and MANY of the democrats who said that just prior to the war in Iraq!!!   Last I saw, our economy is doing just fine, thanks to President Bush's tax rate cuts; with the revenue up to record results!   Absolute Ignorance Brainwashes Many!

The surge may not be lost as the president has changed the definition of success.  With 10's or 100's dead each week he can no longer promise peace, only an "acceptable level of  violence" as success.  This president and the executive have failed the people of the United States and should be impeached for their failures.  It is flip-flopping to change definitions as the president has because the surge is a failure.

Magojulia; like usual you have only slander to offer.  Today  from ABC.com international:

Attacks on Baghdad Green Zone Kill 2

Mortar Attacks on Baghdad's Green Zone Kill 2, Wound 10

Even in the green zone the Surge has failed.  "Over the last four months of  "surge" there have been more soldiers lost than any previous period", from John Murtha.

Every metric shows the surge is failing.   We should:

  1. Cancel all international contractor arrangement in Iraq.
  2. Set a deadline to begin exiting our forces.
  3. Refocus our forces on targeting international terrorism
  4. Demand accountability of every executive action and investigate the unaccounted billions lost.

Thanks for the link !  I found te articles very interesting and not too surprising.  I can onlly wonde what will happen to the Kurds should they succeed in arranging their own contracts contrary to the terms of the pending #### law.

You are absolutely corrrect to identify the gap between what would work to secure stability in Iraq and he defficient curent troop surge. Not surprising we are short by 10x the necessary troop strength. Maybe there is purpose in putting to harms way a deficient force level?

What really makes me sick is the role of contractor mercenaries in Iraq who are well funded and supported way beyond anything the typical soldier experiences.  The numbers reported by John Murtha near 130,000 in Iraq as contractors. That makes them a goverment funded, by our tax dollars, private army who are not accountable to any law or subject to congressional oversite!

Think of the same monies being spent properly and legally to adress terrorism concerns! We could propbably increase our militar force by 5x for the same investment!

I hope the waste ends soon and our trroops get the support they deserve.
