Hey Abby, I didn't go far - just 30 miles into Houston and for a very rare occassion, got to enjoy the big city without traffic since almost EVERYONE had jumped up and left. The news seems to be doing the same they did with Rita and dramatizing the event. That had frustrated me in making a decision what to do - its hard not to be affected by it. It seems Katrina gave many people who didn't really know much about hurricanes, a most profound impression that they now apply to every hurricane - especially some of the reporters. Anyway, I went to higher ground and then watched to see what Rita was doing before driving out of town and into all the traffic. I ended up deciding to stay put where I was at as I figured we were on the south end of the dry side and I couldn't do better than that. We ended up getting very little weather at all. Home was a matter of lots and lots of limbs and leaves to rake. Hopefully yours will go as well.
