Ah yes I rememberthis email. I can't say with any surety that I remember PJ reading it on the air, but it is entirely possible that he did. I am a history major. In the last few years it has been fashionable to trash the original founders, to point out almost with disturbing frequency the flaws of our American society. Many flaws exist. No one denies that. Many have seen those flaws and have acted to improve them if even in the smallest ways. Even now, though, people who migrate here say that the reason they came was because of the opportunity that exists here. There is, in our experimental way, something noble about American ideals. American ideals reflect some of the better qualities in humankind and there is always imperfection. Maybe he saw this. Shelley
