May the soul of little Lebby rest in peace. That little boy should never have been allowed to walk home alone. Doesn't matter if they previously walked the route. This was an 8 year old child.

Commissioner Kelly you said this  is every parents nightmare..these parents allowed this tragedy...how many of us would let our 8 year olds walk alone, especially so  many blocks, and  outside of  our view. Not me, and not anyone I know.  It is very sensitive of him to extend such compassion to adults (an important voting entity) who let a young child walk home alone, who acted with such extreme negligence,

This did not have to happen. Had the parents not been so preoccupied with all their other responsibilties and made such a stupid choice.Even sadder is that the parents in these communities who have one child after another, repeatedly make choices such as this one.

These parents are as guilty as the monster who did this. Had they did not have so many children perhaps they would have the presence of mind not to take such a stupid  risk that cost their son his life. I am embaressed to say that my  mother brags about her connection to this community and defends their negligence. I personally have seen a family forget a 4 year old after leaving with their other 5 children ranging in age 3 months to 6 years. a half hour later they came back for the child.
