What is the secret to getting a job for a Senior.  I am so frustrated now that I've tried so hard to get one.  In a town full of Seniors all I hear is Seniors are being hired.  Well I took care of my mother for 20 years as a caregiver I learned how to take care of someone with Alzheimers/Dementia.  As she got worse(she became bedbound) things got more difficult and time consuming.  I learned to take care of a feeding tube.  Most of what I learned was on my own.  There was no help when I started to take care of her.  A few years later I got some help from Hospice.  They should me how to best take care of her.  My Mother passed away in July of this year.  I started to look for jobs as a caregiver.  I found that 20 years experience was not good enough.  I can't get hired as a caregiver in this town of Hemet, Calif.  I can't even get help or advice.  I was told by one of my Doctors that this is not a very charitable town.  I believe it now.   When my mother died I lost my income, because I was paid for taking care of her.  Now I'm losing my home to foreclosure.  I am still looking for a job in other places, but to no avail they're just not there.  I don't know what to do anymore,  I've started to question my abilities.  People ask me what can I do and I just stumble sometimes.  I guess because I've been turned down so many times.  I had a neighbor ask me what I knew more than anything else.  I thought for a minute and came up with sewing.  I have an AA Degree in Fashion Design and a Certificate in Sewing. I've spent my entire life sewing.  So why don't I teach.  But not here in Hemet.  I don't think people here will appreciate it.  So I will try in Temecula, Ca. The Orange County of Riverside. All I can do  is try.
