Hi - I was wondering how many people feel they have been (or soon will be) impacted by jobs being moved overseas?  I know that I have been :(   I'm not a fan of illegal immigrants, but the opposite side of that coin is the number of people being displaced by overseas "remote" workers.  I'd like to see 20/20 look into that.  Thanks.

I fall into this catagory. My dept. with a major bank was sent to India along with 4 other depts. 23 years of service with the same company and now I am without a job. I'm almost 56 yrs old, and there isn't going to be much out there unless I take a major cut in pay.  I was offered a great severance package which will give me time to find another job, but my hopes of finding something are not high.

What is the point in sending our jobs overseas, and leaving Americans walking the streets trying to survive? We are paying taxes through the nose, our economy stinks and there is no one around to help us. Target that with the fact that illegal aliens have as many rights if not more then Americans do and where does it leave you? Will I now be expected to take any job that comes along because unemployment will force me too? Who will make up all the money I will lose having to take a job that is not comparable to the one that was sent overseas? What is this country coming too? We support everyone but our own people. I no longer can say I'm "Proud to be an American".

More and more Americans are being displaced. Corporations are laying off their seasoned employees to bring in newbies off the streets at a much lower rate of compensation. This is crushing to many families with mortgages, children in college, and debt. The person displaced is often forced to take a new job making much less money and with fewer benefits (if any). The best thing we can all do is prepare. We prepare by continuing our education, and making yourself valuable. It is going to get much worse. And a wise man will live a little below his means, and save for emergencies.
