I am writing for my friend, he is mentally ####(not extremely), and can't read or write.  He was hurt on the job, one of his jobs, he has two  jobs 16hr. a day, after quitting SSI.  He went to report it and was told he would be fired and made miserable if he went to the Dr.  They wouldn't let me in to be present so he could understand and not sign any papers, I have power of attorney for these situations. Kenneth believes everything, and doubts anyone would want to hurt him. He also thinks about his boss in that way.

I have contacted his local union.  He did get to the Dr.  They are giving him a hard time. He's on light duty now. He is a janitor in Ca.  He is a groundskeeper in the County of S.Bern.

It is admirable that he wanted to work, he could have stayed on disability. He had no help from agencies or advocates for the mentally disabled, in order to get these jobs.  He's been so successful and proud. It makes me cry to think they would take advantage of him this way.

Any suggestions?

after working for 35 years as a heavy truck mechanic and injuring my left shoulder, then 6 months later my right shoulder i was thrust into this joke called Workmen Comp.  the lawyer is out for money, the doctor after 2 operations has said that neither is repairable,  i had worked 7 days a week for at least 3 years, and took pride in what i did. I made trucks safe. i saved lives.now i'm damaged goods my old company won't return my calls or e mails, the lawyer says wait a while we will both make money. ! is this a joke? i'm in my 50s but, i still forgot more about trucks than most will know!  i' even have a CDL i have driven truck, for several years i drove heavy tow truck.  i am fed up with a system that treats me like a criminal.

Tell me about it

It does sound familiar to myself my friend, it  does sucks. Definetly. It doesn't make much sense how companies get away with such sneaking moves again and again. I really don't know what to tell you, but briefly, I am almost in the same boat since few years now.  They did even kick me out (to make a long story short) after a back/shoulder/leg injured at that time working like a ......clocking me out and all of that BS over,  but  what can I do? I'd been out of work for a while doing the best I can since then dragging myself because I have not choice but is not fun neither. What we can do?  I wish you much better time ahead now then. And feel good about your good accomplishments so far. At least it is good to hear about it for the future. We never know!  Take good care yourself now and happy new year then.
