Does anyone know what interview the clips were from when Peter was talking about himself being a reporter in the abc documentary "Peter Jennings: Reporter"? Was there another special before his death where he talked about reporting? My condolences to Peter's friends and family. Peter will be greatly missed.

I think they identified the source in the program, or perhaps in some other coverage where they used clips from the same, perhaps on the WNT tribute on 08/08. I'll try to find it.

No, not on 08/08, but I'm sure I heard somewhere, maybe earlier in the day on a local piece, perhaps Barbara Walters said something about it, or maybe on GMA, which I did not record. I'll keep looking; it would be nice to see the full interview.

I don't have an answer to your question; however, if anyone is interested in very early footage, last night G. Bolton offered this site from CBC, Canada. Peter is very young here. It runs approximatekly 20 minutes. http://archives.cbc.ca/IDC-1-68-1813-12276-20/that_was_then/arts_entertainment/peter_jennings Regards, Connie

Connie, Thanks!! What a great link you posted! I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I was really struck near the end when it showed him doing the piece about violence on the subway when he turned to view the video and you could see him from the back. It was like looking at him recently. Even though this was so long ago, it was looking back to the future... Lisa.

Connie - Thanks for posting this archive. For anyone who has listened to this piece, I thought that Peter definitely lived up to his life's dream of being considered not only a good broadcaster and journalist but a good human being as well. Good work, Peter! Diana Reynolds Cincinnati

Does anyone know if ABC will put the WNT tribute from 8/8 on tape for Peter's fans to purchase?

I think Peter's interview in the special tribute to him last week was done a while ago. I remember clips of the same interview being included in the promos for WNT, including those that ran during the Election 2004 coverage.

I think maybe it was an in-house interview done with the purpose of pulling out statements for promotions of WNT. I think it was done last Fall in preparation for the retirement of Tom Brokaw when ABC was hoping to move to first place in the ratings. I do know that many pieces were pulled out and used for the Fall/Winter campaign to promote WNT and Peter Jennings as a seasoned, reliable journalist. I particuarly remember the piece about him getting up each morning knowing that he would learn something new that day and help others to understand it the way he did.
