Prior to this board being shut down on the weekend, there were many responses to my posting of last week. It read as follows: Forward emails to WNT, to name the studio from which Peter gave his nightly report, and to announce it as follows: "FROM THE PETER JENNINGS STUDIO, THIS IS WORLD NEWS TONIGHT, WITH 'NAME OF ANCHOR'" Now that this board is up again, replies can continue. With Peter's name being removed from the broadcast this evening, perhaps there will be an increased interest. julauded

We are still deeply saddened by Peter's passing. The denial of grief is indeed strong. Yet we cannot deny Mr. Gibson's "bowing to reality" in removing Peter's name from the nightly news. "From the Peter Jennings studio, this is world news tonight," is most appropriate and continues his stalwart tradition. From the looks of reports, "'name of anchor' might be Terry Moran or Miguel Marquez, with a few years of foreign experience under either's belt? I dont mean to disrespect Peter Jennings but time goes on and we have to change. Peter Jennings name may no longer be in the title but we will always remember it will we.

I agree with nearly everyone in this thread, that naming the studio after Peter is a wonderful tribute and would ease the loss. So many have expressed sadness and bewilderment at the seeming disapperance of Peter and his name from WNT. For millions of people, he was a solid and comforting presence, and to keep his name somehow attached to the show and newsroom that he cared about so deeply--and on which he had such a lasting impact--would do him justice. He deserves to be recognized by WNT in this way for his obvious legacy. At the same time, it would help viewers feel connected to him and keep his memory alive for those who come later. I will write to ABC at WNT as previous postings have directed, and put in my two cents worth right away. Thank you Connie for the wonderful idea!!--Jenny
