If I knew that I could sell a kidney for that amount of money, sign me up. I've lived in lack and poverty my whole life. Knowing that I could sell a life-giving part of my body and get the financial boost I need to get up and out of this hole, I would do it in a New York Minute!! Someone reaching for these solutions should NOT be rebuked. This world needs all the help it can get. Why complain about where your new lease on life is coming from (as long as it's legal) when it's coming!? If my life was hanging in the balance and someone said, "Got $60k? You can live!" I think I'd take them up on that. May be the ethics behind it are a tad questionable but I really don't see why. This is simply a solution to a problem. Why is it ethically questionable? Nobody questions the Salvation Army or Goodwill store. They sell used stuff back to the poor AND the rich. When a life hangs in the balance and it's only money standing in their way, there isn't a question of ethics unless the kidney is coming from another place other than a legitimate live seller.
