I am appalled at the lack of thought from Diane Sawyer on her evening report concerning the housing crises. Her quote from Suze Ormon telling people to simply walk away from their mortgage debt because property values have dropped leaves me stunned and wondering if both are imbibing in some brain-numbing drug. This type of "advice" is unconscionable... It sends a totally WRONG message, especially to young people. Yes, I understand our nation is suffering, but we must take responsibility for our own actions. Suze can preach what she wants, but repeat of her incredibly POOR advice by a major new outlet leaves me shaking my head in disbelief. How can anyone endorse the idea of not fulfilling an obligation you willing entered? "Gee, my car isn't worth what it used to be, who cares I didn't make a down payment, I'm just going to stop paying. And, oh gosh, I bought my house when values were high and now their not, so I'll just give it back to the bank. Oh, and I saw the leather jacket I bought the other day for a cheaper price, so I'll just not pay the credit card company". Have any of you given thought to the consequences of such poor advice? ... And, by-the-way, 5-years from now it may not be as easy as Suze thinks for these people to purchase a home or anything else that requires a credit check ... We will simply see that credit is harder to obtain because of the people who have walked away; home values will continue to drop, because of the people who walked away; and worst, yet ... Self-respect will have walked out of our lives. Without self-respect we can have no respect for others ... We're doomed.
