I work for a New York based furniture company that builds contract furniture for state human services companies like group homes.
Our furniture is built in the USA. Recently we bid on a contract that went to a foreign company. I believe that all state and federal agencies should be required to quote USA based companies. Prefernces should be given to US made just like preferences are given to female and minority owned companies. I talked with New York State purchasing officials and they agreed with the concept but stated that laws would have to be written to allow them to give preferences to USA made products.. Our. Governments must come to the party!
