As a Christian with a firm belief in Jesus Christ and knowing that God is my heavenly father, I will not argue religion.  People who profess to be atheists have chosen their path.  God gives us all the right to choose.  We are responsible for our actions.   It is unfortunate that  a person would choose to turn their back on God, the Living God, the creator of all heaven and earth.  We do not know what happens after death, other than to know that if we believe in God and have accepted Jesus Christ we will have eternal life in Heaven with God.  A personal relationship with Jesus, meeting God in the morning and taking this relationship with us throughout our day, is the best possible life we can have.  I personally could not live with God in my life and am thankful I had Christian parents who taught me as a child and now, as a senior adult, I continue to live for an eternal life with my God in heaven.

You've never found an atheist in a fox hole and I doubt you'll find one on their death bed.  Unless of course, they're just so hard hearted that they'll turn away from God one more time.  In my daily prayers, I pray for our leaders, people who are sick, saddened or burdened and I pray for our nation's people in general.  That includes atheist.  But, I also give thanks to God who is a good and loving God, who wants only the best life for us and who gives us the sun, the moon, the rain, the flowers, the animals, our families, etc., etc., etc.  Everything we have is from God.  Praise Him!

I think they are people who are searching for a scientific answer with their mind rather than beleiving with their hearts

Believing in something with ALL YOUR HEART does not MAKE IT TRUE.
Someday, people will remember this.

Actually there was a documentary about a climber that feel down a deep fissure while mountain climbing. He broke his leg during the fall. He became separated from his partner prior to this fall and had no one around that was able to help him out. The guy laid in this crevasse for several days and definitely thought he was going to die. He finally decided to lower himself further into the crevasse even though it was counter intuitive because the light was above him. He had enough sense about him that crawling up towards the light was not an option.  Using the remain rope that he had he lowered himself until he came to the end of the rope. He still had not reached bottom and could not see the bottom. At that point he had no choice but to cut the rope and hope for the best -- either a survivable landing or a quick death.

Amazingly he survived the fall only to land in practically total darkness below with a hint of light coming in from one direction above him.  He was able to inch his way up a fairly steep incline using his pick ax. After a grueling climb, inch by inch dragging his broken leg he managed to break open the ice and make it to the surface. He then literally crawled his way back to the base camp over rocks, ice, you name it. Luckily for the guy, his partner stayed at the base camp for an extra day even though he had totally given up any hope that his partner would be found. He was too grief stricken by the supposed death of his climbing partner that he couldn't face going back home to share the tragic news with the "dead" man's family.

They made a documentary about this horrific mishap. One note worthy thing mentioned by the guy that lived to tell the tale was that he not once thought of "GOD". He said, thinking back, had he done so he probably would have given up hope, resigned himself to his expiration and just froze to death. The only thing that occupied his mind, through out the whole ordeal, was his next step that inched him towards his goal.

It was a great documentary. Wish I could remember the name of it.
