Yes, this summer has been a worse disaster than any I have experienced in over 30 years of flying.  One typical flight from San Francisco to Cincinnati was a classic nightmare.  First we had to change planes in Denver.  The gates were about as far apart as they could be in that huge airport.  We made it, but our luggage did not.  In fact NO LUGGAGE made it from Denver except for people who originated there.  So much for baggage transfers even within the SAME airline.  Then, of course, there is the problem of tracking the missing bag.  Even though we are high status members of that airline, for TWO DAYS no one could tell us where our luggage was.  No clean clothes, no underwear!  Finally after three days, the luggage arrives at the airport.  We went to pick it up as we no longer trusted the airline to deliver it anywhere.  We leave again in three more days.

The return trip from Cincinnati to Chicago was uneventful until we arrived in Chicago.  No plane.  OUR plane was in Denver.  We had a 9 am meeting the next morning in San Francisco and no way to get there on time.  They waited until 9:30 pm to tell us that the flight was cancelled (when the Red Carpet club closed).  We waited an hour for a hotel voucher and reseating on the morning flight, walked to the Hilton, and waited another hour to check in (the line was over 100 people).  We got to our room at midnight.  We hadn't waten since lunch and we had to set the clock to 5 am to make our morning flight.  At least we got an excellent breakfast at the hotel.  Back in the terminal, it was chaos.  The airplane had changed.  We all needed to be reseated, but no one told us that until we tried to hand in our boarding pass at the gate and they sent us back to the checkin counter.  We arrived in San Francisco after 10 am and didn't get to our meeting until 1 pm!!!  Next time I will fly nonstop to Chicago and DRIVE south!
