hello,i am a coollege student that is new to the site. I have read the Bible beginning to almost the end and i have read many articles on religion like TIME magazine's top 25  INFLUENTIL Evangelicals on feb. 7th, 2005. FOR those who have read it, i think this is the "message" that it is conveying. After reading the article, you get the sense that  their principle beliefs were PURE, but their actions are Seriously MISGUIDED. I mean, ever  since the VICTORIAN AGE,  western cultures arond the U.S havestruggled to understand true censorship, and now the U.S seems to be theonly one still making "some" stupid censorship laws.  The  bible has an underlying message. The underlying, overlooked and repeated message of the Bible is to have LOVE, RESPECT,  CARE FOR,  TOLERATE, and EDUCATE each other. But most importantly,GOD gave us free will in this "random world of citizens". This explains  events like  wins, premature birth, emotions, ppen-minded and close minded individuals AND  differing thouht processes. MOST importantly, the Bible wants us to not HATE,but UNDERSTAND our  DIFFERENCES.

Since God doesen't contradict himself, theHOLY SPIRIT would surely stand beside  Gays and liberally educated thinkers willingly  instead of Conservatie preaching ignorance, intolerance and bigotry esp., if he walked the Earth in these times.

furtheremore, not including the TEN COMMANDMENTS there are only SUBTLE answers to many of the world's delimmas as Extra TESTon Earth today. Most importantly, we must use our E-D-U-C-A-T-I-O-N to promote human nature's most important VALUES,NOT  our own .

Maybe so. But if you're going to pass college, you need to pay more attention in English class. Because your writing is about 2nd-grade level. (By the way -- no apostrophe in "its" as a possessive.) God hates poor spelling and grammar.

While I agree in principle with the tone of you post, the fact is that there are serious theologions who might disagree in part of in whole.

On another not, refering to the title of your post, I'm not so sure that the 600.000 Civil War dead would agree that our democracy was just given to us.  I'd argue that they paid the ultimate price to establish the United States.

One can not loose something one never had.

No so called god ever granted anyone anything. It's all Mythology.

Its funny you know - but increasingly the depth of religious belief in America is makming you look very old fashioned as a country and can give the impression that as a people you are starting to look backwards and not forwards.

Out of curiosity where will our 'enlightened' viewpoint, free of traditional religious beliefs, lead this country?  If we could jump ahead 100 years what would the laws of the land look like?  What will be permissible that isn't now?  Is it to hard to imagine that a person could be allowed to marry an animal or that there would be no such thing as statutory rape?

EASY TIGER!!!!!

All i was pointing out is the depth or religious belief in the US is increasingly make you look old fashoined thats all. The level of religious belief in America is HUGE compared tp the UK and most of Europe where we associate strong belief in religion as something we did in the past, thats all.

All this thanking god, and "in god we trust" and the importance that having a strong "faith" is in american politics is something we did in the past but increasingly not anymore and so to us it makes you look old fashioned - Not to mention the "praise jesus now send in your money" style of preaching which we simply find odd.

"enlightened"??? what are you tallking about, we're not enlightened....we just don't believe in god, jesus, bible as much as you do thats all.

The idea that without religious direction the human race would fail is laughable surely!?

My questions stand.  I was curious what other people thought.  I made no mention of the human race failing without religion.

Out of curiosity where will our 'enlightened' viewpoint, free of traditional religious beliefs, lead this country?

If we could jump ahead 100 years what would the laws of the land look like? who knows, the world is becoming a smaller and smaller place and things change  in ways we can never predict - our laws change every year so i guess we'll juts have to wait and see - knowbody can possibly predict how things will be in a decades time let alone 100 years time

What will be permissible that isn't now? - That depends on how life changes although i guess medically i think alot will be possible that isn't now, some drug laws will be relaxed.....the liost could be endless so (as always) i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Is it to hard to imagine that a person could be allowed to marry an animal or that there would be no such thing as statutory rape? Marry and animal?...ok....interesting thought i guess....after all some people do love their pets don't they! :0).........and rape you say?

Interesting that when your mind thinks into the future and what will change that you thought of marrying animals and raping women! ;0)........
