You know people make a big deal about atheists and their beliefs. I don't because it's pretty simple to understand. I consider myself a christian but I still believe in separation in church and state. Take a look at those muslim countries where there isn't a separation between chruch and state. They spawn terrorist because certain groups are not listened to, the women have no rights, and everyone is pretty poor except for a very few.

It wasn't to long ago where we had things like the salem witch trials. And I am not even going to state that how do you pick a god or religion that makes everyone happy. You can't.

I can live with that. What I can't live with is that while I can recognize someones right not to believe in god, they have to recognize my right to believe in one. If I have a relgion or belief system that helps shape my opinion, and I am in any public office, I believe that I have a right to know that person believes that way.

I am more apt to vote for someone who is not trying to hide what they believe in, than those that do try to hide what they believe in.

I completely respect your right to believe as you wish.   I ask that everyone respect each other's right to believe as they wish.  Unfortunately we both know this doesn't happen.

Most athiests that I know would be completely happy living their lives without the judgement and condemnation of those who are "believers".  I think the condemnation comes more from the "faithful" than those who do not profess any
religion.

Most non believers just want to be left to live their lives in peace.

What I can't live with is that while I can recognize someones right not to believe in god, they have to recognize my right to believe in one.

If you change that to: While I can recognize someone's right to believe in what they believe in, they have to recognize my right to do the same.

This statement covers everyone! And that's what we have. Everyone vying for their rights. We just have to figure out how to make it work. The Golden rule works beautifully here!

Let's all apply it.
