I grew up in a smoking household. My Grandfather smoked, my Uncles and Aunts smoked, my Mom and all the guys she married while I was growing up smoked. My Grandmother was the only one who did not smoke. I started smoking, the 2nd time, while in boot camp at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas as it was almost mandatory that you smoked during basic training. I smoked for a little over 42 years and now have severe Emphysema (COPD) from smoking. My wife's daughter and her Son-in-law smoked right from the time I first met them a little over 18 years ago. Both of their children are asthamatic. Their son, who just turned 19, is now smoking and they both can't understand why. I would like to offer a challenge to all the smokers out there. Let's plan on having a Smoke Free Thanksgiving next year and make history. What do you say about that? Don, New Mexico

Great post, Don. A hope a "Great American Smokeout" becomes a reality next Thanksgiving. I'm a non-smoker, but I inhale a lot of secondary smoke when I go out. I'm fed up with it. I hope that you and I both see the day when ALL smoking will be banned, period!
