Sad story of a hero in the news. Guy bravely saved a little girl, but died shortly thereafter with a cardiac arrest. An excerpt from the ABC News report said:

"My mom said one of the things she remembers so strongly is the circle of people around him that all started praying for him," Julie Hall said. "That's something that has stuck with her."

Guess CPR and not prayer was called for here. Some of those praying should have spelled Mrs. Hall as CPR is very strenuous, but I guess prayer was more important....hallelujah!

If you mean me, yes.. I read that story earlier and felt bad about his death, I would have done the same just as many of us, but from my experiences, many... might be an exaggeration, could be that they have families and know too well that 'no good deed goes unpunished.

'Done the same' as in swimming out to save the child... prayers are a waste of precious time.

quick action is what saved the girl and the wife went into CPR mode automatically I think. Prayer givers probably kneeled in the sand and waited for the second coming. I figured you would be a man of action in a situation like this.

Sad story Capt ... Faith cannot override reason in the physical world when it comes to health and wellness.         What charismatic "Christians" (believers in faith healing) must begin to understand (who don't already) is that a given situation in life may be bigger than their faith, and that sometimes natural help is needed -- no matter how sincere their faith may be ... miracles are not guaranteed in the New Covenant.

Inexplicable phenomena (I.E. 'miracles') ... yes, of course ... you probably have also, but would rather not admit it by convincing yourself that there is a natural explanation behind everything (or will be once science figures it out) ... no problemo ... go with it ...

If you have one in mind, perhaps some of us here can try explain it, scientifically...

Why do you think science doesn't do miracles? And when it comes to faith, some treatments in medicine work but no one really knows why. There would be faith when the first few tried them and they worked...noit religious faith, but faith nevertheless.

You see, this is exactly why I don't want to respond to your posts... I've been suckered into them in the past, but no longer...

Suckered? You mean you cannot discuss anything outside your little steel box.

Miracle: highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment.

By the definition in the prior post, science and statistics say that miracles will happen every so often even though the odds are against it happening at any given time. No God is necessary for this definition which is the second in the dictionary.
