I guess I was right about the main source of the deletions!
Yes, this is a religious topic!

A "god" has the power to create, and the power to delete ...

I'm surprised this thread is still alive!
I was sure it would also be deleted and was simply venting some frustration  :-)

Much of my frustration is not knowing why certain posts are deleted, and especially why whole Topics are deleted when only the offending posts could be destroyed without losing the best parts of the discussion.  After all, this is a discussion forum.

Perhaps my faith in this discussion venue has been restored somewhat.

Anyway, being a Science & Religion forum, does anyone have scientific hunches as to why whole threads are deleted, or religious perspectives (e.g., the thread is not "ethical")?

p.s.  Gotta go now, but will not be surprised to see this thread gone when I next check tonight ...

It's still here... so much for your 'faith'. :-)

My faith is being tested, I believe. My certainty is being converted to faith.
What do you say to that, Dar?

LOL!

My Post #8 got deleted.  No good reason, as far as I can tell.  Here it is again:
-------------------------------------------------------------------

As you noticed, my recent Post #4 is gone.  I DID NOT DELETE THAT POST MYSELF. I don't think I ever deleted any of my posts (except for ONE a long time ago --- as a test) and I only tried to delete ONE offensive post from someone else as a TEST (I was unsuccessful).

Looking over my various posts across Topics, I noticed that some posts I can DELETE (with the DELETE button) and many that I cannot DELETE.  The pattern seems to indicate that if someone replies to a post, then that post no longer can be DELETED by the original poster.

My Post # 9 also got deleted.  CENSORSHIP lives!  Here it is again ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is an edited repeat of my deleted (by someone else) Post #4:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

... and this thread is still here!
My faith is being tested, I believe.  My certainty is being converted to faith.
What do you say to that, eon?

If this Topic is still here tonight, I will ask the mods to do the unthinkable (to me) and delete it!

(It does not look like I can delete my own thread after other posts have been added.)

However, I will replace my spontaneous creation (made under emotional stress!) with another, more interesting Topic ...

Or we can use to discuss anything stray off the topic until it poofs, this god thing is getting old and there are too many of them that want a sky daddy to hold their hands, it just astounds me of how many people bring this alleged deity up in just every day conversations, believing in something without any proof is insane.

Well, you will definitely increase the odds of this Topic poofing soon, or were you referring to the God beliefs poofing?

As is the case with all animals, we adapt to our ecology (human in our case) and develop behavioral patterns that "work".
Believing in a certain god in our culture has its benefits.
Thank god that you don't live in a culture where Godless people are executed as infidels!

or one in which God fearing people are executed as enemies of the state.

You and I have no god to thank for that!  Just think about how influential this country could be against such murder if we ourselves rejected such superstitious nonsense...

-----------------

And not believing in some gods/god is the reason why nearly 100% of life on this planet has evolved just fine over billions of years without this recent creation of man, called 'God'?  You went to church today! Fess up now, PK...

As for our culture, this belief has had it's benefits if you consider the millions that have been killed in religious wars, just think how overpopulated we would be now without them...

I would simply say "cultural" wars.  Religion is a cultural phenomenon.

P.S.  It's time to end this unintentional thread, don't you think?

Yes, another example of a cultural war.
