OK, now it's income tax season.  Just found out from our tax preparer that despite taking a $6K pay cut by quitting a part-time 2nd job to work full-time from home when my elderly mom moved in with us, we OWE $1500 this year.  C'mon, Washington!  Between my husband and me working full-time we don't even make $50,000 combined!  We pay quarterly taxes to federal and state, our house is paid for, we put our kids through college without loans, and we feel like we are being punished. Seems the only way to make money is to go into debt!  The tax code is so topsy-turvy and threatening to bankrupt and break the backs of the tax base, the "middle class."  A more accurate name for us is "working poor."
