How do you explain  this ?

I could, at one time, but not now. As I see around me people are not listening any longer to logic especially scientific logic. When I watch the science channel I see aliens handing out inspiration while sound research is ignored. I watch as primitive man aka ancient Egyptians, Sumerians, the Greeks, and the later Inca are considered to stupid to work together to dress and move large stones. The Von Denikins, Hancoks, and Bauvals of this world have the ear of the public and have convinced them that the Egyptians, Sumerians, the Greeks, and Inca we too stupid to think out the problems and construct the things they did. That bunch of con men have convinced the public that ancient man needed extraterrestrial help even though the brain of the ancients is identical to the brains we have today. That bunch have even found that Roman knowledge was handed to them by space aliens. No matter what good hard science, exploration, and sound logic have explained every detail of the feats of ancient man are explained.

The occurrence of pi, 3.141529...  in the pyramids was found by Japanese archaeologists
working on the Gaza plateau. The very people who defined geometry long before Eulcid. That the plans for temples were found engraved in the flat stones of the temple foundations. That by working in gangs they moved large blocks from distant quarries to construction sites. That one Roman town of Berenice, on the Red Sea in Roman-Egyptian times traded and earned 5 trillion in today's dollars in a five year period. Because of the Von Denikins, Hancoks, and Bauvals people today believe that the ancients needed help in spite of the fact that those ancients may have been more creative, intelligent, and dedicated than us. They were certainly more so than the Von Denikins, Hancoks, and Bauvals.

In the final test, we are in greater danger from the Von Denikins, Hancoks, and Bauvals than developing new weapons and finding horrible tools of destruction buried in natural forces. We don't live on the edge of our destruction today more so than 5000 years ago. We have always been near our own demise. The dangers of an asteroid collision with the earth is today the same danger as thousands of years ago. But, what do you intend to do about it? The dangers of self destruction from man made climate change is as real but what will we do about it?

What do you Think?

Good article TFC (just finshed reaing it in it's entirety) ... speaks to the individual conscience of the scientist and all that goes with it ... I applaud the author's insight.

If you want to read or hear more of Browowski's thinking the entirety of the his PBS program; The Assent of Man is on You Tube. It's a bit tedious to put the parts together but what he has to say makes up for the exercise.
