Jay, I understand where you are coming from, but you are mistaken in the belief that banning guns will make this country
safer. Check with the FBI statistics and this will prove what I am saying. Do you know that Washington DC had the most rigid gun laws in the nation and their crime rate was also the highest in the nation. Also, in every state that has passed conceal carry laws have had reductions crime rates. All of them! It makes sense, if the bad guys think that you might be able to protect yourself and your families with the use of a firearm, they will leave you alone. I understand your passion. I think it is misguided however. If your loved ones were attacked in your own home and you are unarmed, what would you do? Play dead? If your loved ones are attacked in your own home and you are armed, what would you do? I would do whatever it takes to either get the bad guys to leave for fear of their lives or to use a weapon to save my family. The simple truth is that guns do not kill people. True, stupid people often kill others, they do it with alcohol, automobiles, drugs and many other things including guns that could be blamed for their own ignorance. Guns are not the bad guys. They can be used for sport, protection, door stops, art and collector pieces. The bad guys will always have ways to hurt people because they want to. If our government takes away the guns from law abiding citizens, do you really think the bad guys will give up their guns? Who then would be left with the guns? The bad guys! I have never broken the law beyond speeding. I have never committed a felony. I have never attacked anyone with anything. Why should my right to own and bear arms be taken from me because bad guys use guns for bad things. All I am asking is that you think and make decisions with your mind and not just your heart.
