Here's what I posted on an article about this problem in Denver Colorado...I bet this same issue is happening everywhere :::

OMG.
These people living in motels are being irresponsible-they lack the skills to even find a place to live. The article says motels go from $800-1200 a month! If they have THAT kind of money, they CAN afford an apartment AND the deposit. Clearly, these people arent doing the looking. There's an apartment building right by me which is $400 for rent and $300 deposit...that $800 would EASILY cover this....and this apartment is NOT the exception on capitol hill.-- there are TONS OF VACANCIES ALL OVER PEOPLE.

Hey people in motels...do better research. Seek and you shall find. There are PLENTY here and you're just blowing away your money.

I swear, some people just dont think or something. If they can afford THAT, they CAN afford this easily. Appparently, they just dont look around enough or insist on looking in high-rent areas..well then, cant feel sorry them then.
Worse yet, the media portrays this as though "this isnt their own doing" and "how horrible"...well, when you dont know how to look for a place to live I cant feel sorry for ya!
------------------------------------
I'm amazed at how much peoples own ignorance is costing them!! Like I said, THAT'S what's going on in Denver's rental market and I bet its the SAME everywhere...peoples own ignorance of whats available is what's getting them into this, NOT "financial trouble".

People WAKE UP! You can afford plenty, just look around enough for petes sake.

I cant believe this is happening...a mass epidemic of ignorance. Amazing!

------------------

TO ALL THOSE IN THIS SITUATION --

WAKE UP! There's plenty available you CAN afford. Your own ignorance of this is getting you all. Look around way more than you did before and in areas you didn't look in before, and don't give up (and btw, since I actually LIVE in 1 of those many places, I can tell you it's BETTER LIVING than in a cramped hotel- you'll get way more for the price!! If you're afraid it'll be in a bad neighborhood or something, these motels HAVE WORSE CONDITIONS THAN AN APARTMENT SO YOU'RE BLOWING YOUR MONEY AWAY.

If you can afford $800 plus a month, then you CAN afford a lousy $400 for 1st months rent and a $300 deposit. Living in a motel is NOT necessary. Look!
