We need to start taking a real hard look at how we control guns in this country.
There are a number of weapons available today that do not belong in people's hands.
If the number of gun related deaths keep going up, then maybe we need to take all guns out of society.
The lies of the NRA and its supporters no longer hold any weight.
The often used saying, guns don't kill people, people kill people, is wrong.
The real truth is that people use guns to kill other people, and they are doing so in record numbers.
Another argument of gun owners is that if guns were outlawed, then only criminals would have guns.
Well, guess what?
Good citizens can have guns right now, and many do, but they are still getting shot.
If someone pulls a gun on you, it will not matter if you have one yourself.
Many police officers around the country have been killed in recent years by firearms, and no one is more well armed than police.
We saw more than thirty Virginia Tech students killed by a nut with a gun.
Since arming students on campus is out of the question, how can we protect them from this sort of thing?
Quite simply, you can't, even with more security.
How many more innocent people have to die because the outdated Second Amendment states that people have the right to keep and bear arms?
It does not work today.
People's right to live far outweighs the right to bear arms.
Get pistols and all other guns that are used to massacre people out of society.
If that does not stop the violence, then ban all guns, and tell the NRA to shut its stupid mouth.

Sorry George but I take issue with your statement "no one is more well armed than the police". I know many of the officers that work here in the Seattle area and the fact of the matter is that the criminals are better armed than most of our police officers - and the police will tell you that. Criminals have easier access to weapons, access to better types of weapons and don't have the same restrictions on them that the police do when they use them.

Most cops carry a single sidearm, with 2 spare magazines on their person. So that might amount to 45 rounds of ammunition on average for the officers. Any additional firepower they might have access to is locked up in their patrol vehicle and may or may not be readily accessible to them in a given moment.  Most of the recent school shooting that have happened here in the US and in other areas has the suspect better and/or more heavily armed than the first police officers who arrive on scene.

If you were to give the officers in the Seattle area the same amount of body armor and weaponry that the bank robbers in the North Hollywood incident used the public outcry would be tremendous. And that is only one single example of the nearly countless times out police officers find themselves on the wrong side of the "arms race" that takes place on our streets every day.

Hello George,

This is gun control, and it performed exactly like it was supposed to.
