Hey... if the gun fanatics had their way, we should all be carrying concealed weapons down the street.  That's the best way to stop this violence in America... i.e., everyone "arm up" and when a shooting like VT occurs everyone pull out their weapons so that the police can/will be confused as to who the true psycopath is.  Wouldn't that be an amazing sight to see... police drive up on a shooting with their guns drawn, and everyone at the scene of the crime has their personal weapons out...???

Let's face it folks... the shootings at VT, sadly to say, were as "American As Apple Pie".  Until something is done that makes it harder to obtain and own a gun than it is to get a driver's license, i.e., in the USA it's easier to legally purchase a gun than it is to get a driver's license, we should just start accepting these school massacres as part of our great "American Way of Life", and stop making such a big deal all over the news when something like this happens.

Unless the American public becomes sick of this kind of violence... then let's just keep standing behind that "2nd Amendment" crap, and wait for our next shooting.  Only next time, don't blast the massacre all over the airways, it interrupts my regular programming.

The shooting was over by the time the police arrived.  Everyone would have had their concealed weapons, I guess, concealed.  The police typically have cleanup duty in circumstances like this.  If you are just going to make up situations, please make them up with some semblance of reality.

Purchasing a firearm is harder than getting a drivers license.  To get a drivers license, I had to prove that I was at least 14, complete a test by looking up answers in a book, read an eye chart, and prove that I could drive a short distance without breaking any major laws.  The last time I purchased a gun, I had to have a drivers license, prove that I was over 18, prove where I lived, fill out a form as to whether I was able to purchase a gun within the law under threat of 10 years in prison, and have a background check.  Besides, I live in a country in which I have a Constitutional right to own and operate firearms but do not have a Constitutional right to operate motor vehicles.

My 14 year old son has a drivers license, but can not purchase a firearm yet.  I am more afraid when I am riding in a vehicle with him than when we are out shooting his WASR-10 (AK-47 lookalike), even when has an evil 30 round magazine installed and is he shooting it as fast as a semi-automatic firearm can be made to fire.

"Getting a gun is harder than getting a driver's license" in the USA?!?!?!?!?!?

Oh really.... then explain how this "10 month old" got his shotgun in Illinois....

Depends on what state you live in... which is exactly my point... we have very lacksed federal controls on who can own a gun, so, let's not all raise a big sympathy cry when things like VT happen.  If we as a country are not willing to do something about this because of our "ancient" 2nd ammendment, which is really NOT about the right to own a firearm but clearly states that the country has the right to have a standing militia (i.e., today's National Guard)... then, let's not go into the sobbing mode when stuff like this happens.

Don't just cry and wait for it to happen again... cry, and change the laws!

Please learn your American History.  At the time that the Constitution and Bill of Rights was drafted, the militia was ALL FREE, WHITE, ABLE BODIED MALES BETWEEN THE AGE OF 18 AND 45.   There was no such thing as the National Guard at that time.

Are you going to have some one read this response to you? Evidently you can't read your own link.

The kid's father filled out the application and sent it in.

Wow... you can read, but you just don't get the point do you?  Duhhh... Let me clarify my point for you.  The point is... apparently, in the case of "Baby Bubba", there was NO background check to confirm that the individual who applied to own a gun actually qualified to own one... background check was completely bogus.

You know... it's people like you, who I'm afraid to own a gun.  You lack the intelligence to consider the point being made by this article, yet you "need" a gun to prove your a man.  Come on buddy... there's more to life than cleaning your weapon, watching American Idol, and drinking a couple of "Buds" at the local beer hall.  Go get an education and learn how to understand the point of an article before you talk about others not being able to read.
