It is a rare and sad event that took place at VT. In fact it is very rare for a mentally ill person to act out in a violent manner. I am concerned that this incident is causing people to make generalizations about the mentally ill. I have heard things such as "we should not allow people with mental illnesses go to college". Mentally ill people do not chose to be ill and have every right to pursue higher education. Our government has spent considerable time developing the American Disabilities Act and should not go back on our promises that all people regardless of their abilities will be treated equally and given the same opportunities. Should we have kept great minds like Einstein and Abraham Lincoln from learning? They both had mental illnesses.

Well it might of been nice if after Cho's problems came to light his roommates, teachers or even his family could have been notified.

It would have been nice if the clinic had done something more for Cho since they said on his papers he "needs hospitalization" and was a "danger to self".  But instead, somehow, he got sent back to school, and this right when it was at Christmas break 2005.  I guess it was one of those things.   A series of unfortunate events, and I'm not trying to be funny.

Ask Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy about the mentally ill she lost her husband and son seriously shot from one. If you feel this way happy happy joy joy about them stop by a mental institution and take 10 of them shooting at a gun range. I then want to see your humor.
