It seems that everybody is looking for a quick fix for their problems and fears that they may or may not be experiencing. "The Secret" there is no secret or no formula that no man has outside of the effective plan that God has for ones well-being and it's called believing and trusting in the one who has the ultimate power to heal all manner of sickness and disease. Rather it be depression, finances, or health it's all available and free of charge if we only believe. Isaiah 53:5 says, for our healing; He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities and by His stripes we were healed. How about a dose of Matthew 6:33; Seek ye first the kingdom (his will for your life) and all these things shall be added to you. Administer this Psalms 37:4; Delight yourself in the Lord and HE will give you the desires of your HEART. And after the taking these priscriped RX then you should follow up with Psalms 37:7; Trst in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him, do not fret because of him (man) who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. There is no secret to what God can do, what He done for others He'll do for you, and it is free to all that will believe.

I do agree that positive thinking and visualizations (of yourself doing or being what you want to do or be) are effective in making it more likely that you will succeed in an endeavour. HOWEVER... there are things about The Secret that I don't buy into, specifically the belief that you attract and cause all the bad things to happen to you. First of all how does it explain the happy go lucky positive people and little children who get cancer or other deadly disease, many of whom say they never thought it could happen to them? While hypochondriacs imagine themselves seriously sick or dying their entire lives---and never get anything. What about all the people who go out on trips expecting a perfectly wonderful time and end up in an accident or having a really awful trip due to circumstances beyond their control? Most of the people that I have known have always said they were never expecting or thinking about the negative things that happened to them. "I didn't think it could happen to me" is the recurring comment of most victims. Then there are the constant worriers who rarely have anything bad happen to them (mostly because they are more prepared, which helps alleviate problems). The New Age Movement wants you to believe they you're in total control of life through magical thinking. This is a convenient belief system that tries to convince you that you have total control, which is simply not so. There are wars, natural disasters, evil people, diseases and other elements in the world that can affect your life, no matter how positive you are. Slavery? The Holocaust? Child abuse? Did they bring it on themselves through "negative thinking." Sorry, I don't buy it... Much of the New Age Movement came out of Eastern, specifically Indian philosophies, which have a basis in the concept of people being reborn into particular circumstances as reward or punishment for past life Karma. Therefore, there is little concern for others in that society, they can just say it's Karma when a child is starving or crippled. This New Age mindset can make people stop helping others or having compassion for others because they think that the other person's mindset must have caused whatever bad has befallen them. It also causes a lot of self loathing when you blame yourself for everything that happens to you.

I believe in God and I believe in everything "The Secrets'" author is trying to portray.Jesus was the greatest speaker ever on the power of positive thinking and visualization. I don't think Jesus would disagree with any of "The Secrets" message, I do think he might have added that without him, all the money in the world, the greatest health in the world, the greatest love life in the world are all basically meaningless. To all of those who think "The Secrets" author has gotten rich from this or richer possibly is probably accurate and as it should be. As Jesus wanted us to know how to live life to the fullest so too does Rhonda Byrne, the author of the book and video. I was not surprised when the reporter stated that the head of some cancer hospital was appalled with the video and thought that it was dangerous. I could understand him being appalled if medical treatment of cancer or any disease for that matter was guaranteed. Radiation and chemotherapy are not guarantees to any cancer patient, it is one of many options in trying to treat the disease and I am sure that it fails as often as it succeeds. At no time did I hear anyone in the video state that we should not seek medical treatment and that the secrets suggestions were the only way to treat a disease or anything else we want to fix or cure or change in our life.I was wondering why Rhonda herself was not interviewed, had I came up with such a great idea I would not have missed the opportunity to answer any and every question asked of me. All of the suggestions do work, but very few will ever know that because most people are too negative and too skeptical to even try, and that is a shame because our world would be a more peaceful world if everyone were healthy, happy, fit, wealthy and had loving relationships in their lives. That is my prayer for everyone in our world! I thought it was a great video for the person, although I can't imagine, being exposed to the ideas for the first time.Go Rhonda.
