I loved Christiane Amanpour on CNN.  I would like her just as much on This Week if the scope remained the same (USA politics).

It’s clear that ABC has chosen to try and expand This Week’s international viewership in exchange for covering USA politics. For many years I have tuned in faithfully solely for the latter.  I now see that this is why ABC brought in Amanpour.  I suspect this retooling is an attempt to try differentiate This Week from it’s competition (which, like This Week, focused on national politics)

I loved when Stephanopoulos’s had the helm.  He was a maestro in conducting the round-table.  Anyone that can temper Sam Donaldson in order to get George Will to chime-in is talented.

I might like Amanpour, but only if This Week returned its focus to USA politics and forego the new international perspective.  I’ll give it one more week, and then I’m going to have to watch Face The Nation instead.

Even though she did exactly what I expected, which is to steer the show away from it's traditional focus, I was really hoping she, and the network, had more sense than that. Turns out, they didn't. I can watch any number of shows at other times of the day/week that provide more of an "international" focus. While it is true what she says... that all politics is international, essentially, the reason I tuned in each week was to learn more about what happened in Washington D.C. this week and hear various voices debate the issues, the politics, the strategy, whatever. I hate this show now.

My DVR can record just two programs at the same time. It has always been This Week and MTP for the last 4 years. I can only stomach certain pieces of MTP but generally used to watch all of This Week when George was host, but mostly it was for the round table and In Memoriam. I've now changed the schedule to add Face the Nation instead of This Week. I cannot stand the awful bias that Armanpour shows and her ego is unbearable! George was obviously a Lib but at least he respected conservatives. Jake Tapper would have been a far better host. Armanpour is destroying a franchise and I will no loner watch it until she is gone!
