I'm new to this story, mostly because of being in Germany. My husband and my brother are active duty Army. They have both done tours in Iraq. My husband has done two. NO ONE wants to go. But it is their duty, and it is part of their oath. And this person violated orders. Which as a direct result leads to a court marshal. Besides, so many service members are coping out because 'they don't believe in this war'. Neither do I. But I guess they should have though of that before they signed their skin over to Uncle Sam.
When they go into that recruiters office, and they sign that paper, it's all over. I say suck it up, because other people are going, even though they don't believe in it. This guy just made my husband and my brother and every other service member look like a joke. I know, next time my husband or brother is going to be deployed, I'll make sure they go into their commanders office and to JAG and ask for a cop-out.
To sum it up, Lt. Watada SHOULD NOT HAVE JOINED THE SERVICE!
OH AND BECAUSE HE DIDN'T GO, THAT MEANS SOMEONE ELSE WENT IN HIS PLACE. And they might have just gotten back. You people that think you know so much about military life and what it entails. This guy is a disgrace. If he didn't want to do hard work he should have gotten a job at McDonalds.
