I can't find one reason in refuseing the military life.. Of course you can get yourself into a battle over personality defects to your own time in the service.. .. How can a person run the "gamut" of entering and then following orders and then "out of the blue" all seems some how..un-warranted.. .. I don't even know one item about this person but figure from the news story he actually went thru the Re-Up phase of military service where they are offering money(bonuses)to stay in the service.. .. I think there are personality defects to the military life.. and its in ones own responsibility to dissolve the situation in a calm manner.. .. That's about it.. Blaming the military is like "throwing stones".. You'll take your chances.. I think the David and Goliath aspects get "glamourized" alot..publicity hounds en-circle lives and the whole affair becomes one of those "stick in your thumb" and "pull out a plum"..Sean Penn's interview seemed in the high end of publicity seeing how the military really has no mysteries..even secrets have no real bearing on personal ambition.

I disagree with the principle that we send our soldiers to war, and if we dont get them voluntarily then they seem to be forced just barely under using the draft. But we send these people to war and tell them to win this war. Then have to confuse them for telling them to win it but dont hurt or kill anyone when you are doing it! You cant have a war without killing and maming people that are innocent OR guilty. Then when they exercise their decision whether they do or not, we pull them out of that war and charge them with killing people that the soldier was sent to take care of. What is the soldier supposed to do? Stand in front of someone and ask " are you for or against us" before he shoots them? NO, he has to make a split decision sometimes to do so without a second thought. So we shouldnt then punish them for doing what they were sent to do! BUT, the soldier that DOES take things into his or her hands to torture the enemy before they kill them, well that should be differently charged. We say we have to abide by the Geneva convention but listen up people, THE ENEMY doesnt go by it. Why should they get by with being barbaric and hate filled and not have the same condition that we do.? You say we cant enforce them only ourselves! Well, I say then dont pull our own men out and punish them for what they do to these type of people, and also let THEM SEE what that person is getting in trouble for too! They are sitting back laughing at us saying how stupid we are that we "play by the rules" while they have NO regard for them at all!
