Anyone have any news on the investigation into the St. Bernard Parish dog shootings?...I don't see anyone here posting about it anymore...I would think that by now with all the evidence that was left at the scene that they would of have some type of idea as to who did this...All I can find is that PETA got involved...I told many here that it would slowly get pushed onto the back burner...Seems it did!....~Raddy~

I guess it is on the "back burner" as I said it would be...What happened to all of the animal advocates here that were crying for those cops to be jailed and petitioning the government to pass bills against this sort of thing ever happening again?... Oh well I guess there are more important things to discuss here like tourists in Cancun..........~Raddy~

Perhaps they have found out it is not true ? Just like the Super Dome stories - you know when people are proven wrong they tend to stop talking.

I am sure that is what they will do - I love animals, however the message board was begining to look like an add for PETA for awhile -

True...I just hope that pet owners on others learned from these Hurricanes to be better prepared for themselves and their pets next season....But many won't and will be back blaming the Government again for the same things...JMHO...~Raddy~

last week Anderson Cooper interviewd the owners of the dogs that were killed in St Bernard Parish at the schools. it is true and it is not a rumor. +++++++ It sure is something they are not talking about around here. I dont like to think about it. I had to give up two dogs in April one a male Shitzu / poodle mix and one a german shepard / new foundland . You will never guess where their new home was , St. Bernard Parish. I havent talked to the new owners in a few weeks , knowing them they probably took them to wherever they evacuated to.

I wouldnt count the "rumors" of the things that happened at the Superdome and Convention Center as not being true. I know people who were there and they are saying a lot of it is true.

The animals that were killed in St. Bernard Parish were diseased dogs. They didn't know where to find the owners so the next best thing was to put the dogs down. I get this information from family that lives down in Louisana. This wasn't just someone going around killing dogs for fun. They were put down out of mercy.

okay, diseased? like what...most are treatable, even heartworms. I find this information bizarre. Even advanced heartworms and parvo have inexpensive solutions. I doubt seriously this would be accurate. An excuse to kill an animal maybe, and did vets kill the dogs? typically they are euthanized compassionately. So, who's the vet that said these dogs were "sick".

I have seen videos and dont recall seeing a vet check them out prior to a man in a pickup truck hitting them with his car then shooting the dog. St. Bernard Parish has a lot of destruction ( i have seen it with my own eyes )but not as much as Slidell Louisiana , and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Many animal "rescuers" were able to get into those areas and save hundreds of dogs and cats. Most of the damage in Chalmette is water / mud damage. While driving through there I saw a couple cats roaming the streets. ( I would have taken one home if they wouldnt have run when I got out of my car) I also saw that the SPCA had gone house to house looking for animals ( they spray painted signs on the house)

There is a great deal being done and as in any other investigation it?s a slow process. I am not going to post a link to the pasadosafehaven site because it?s very graphic. CNN?s Anderson Cooper did a special on the situation and The Humane Society of the United States sent this letter to Louisiana Attorney General Charles Foti, Jr. in response to the discovery of dogs found killed at two schools in St. Bernard Parish http://www.hsus.org/press_and_publications/press_releases/letter_to_la_attorney_general_.html And if you think their owners killed the animals you should read the following. I removed her e-mail address from the post. MY POODLE 10/9/05 10:21 ET 10/9/05 MY WHITE POODLE NAMED GIGI WAS ONE OF THE DOGS FOUND IN ST.BERNARD HIGH SCHOOL.THE ONE WITH RED PAINTED TOE POLISH. SHE WAS GROOMED EVERY 6 WEEKS AND SHE WAS GROOMED ON FRIDAY 8-26-05. SHE WAS TAKEN FROM ME BY THE ST.BERNARD SHERIFF'S OFFICE AT ST.BERNARD HIGH AS WE WERE BEING EVACUTED. WE WERE TOLD NO ANIMALS ALLOWED ON THE BARGE WE WERE BEING TAKEN TO. WE WERE ARRIVED AT THE BARGE THERE WERE PEOPLE AND THEIR ANIMALS ALREADY ON IT. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I DIDN'T HAND HER OVER THAT I WOULD BE HANDCUFFED, AND THE PERSON WHO TOLD ME HAD A SHOTGUN IN HIS HAND WITH A VEST FULL OF BUCKSHOT BULLITS.I KNOW GIGI HAS BEEN TAKEN TO LSU VET. FOR AN AUTOPSY. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE ANIMAL RESCUERS WHO WENT INTO THE SCHOOL. IF YOU NEED TO TALK TO ME I CAN BE E-MAIL AT++++++++++++++++++. JUDY MIGLIORE YES THAT'S RIGHT I AM SIGNING MY NAME

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Judy, I can only Empathize for you. As I too was a pet owner and know how I would feel if someone just up and killed my animals. When I moved into the city I had to give up all of my pets. I did however, find great pride in knowing that I put my animals with people that I knew were going to take care of them and love them. I am not really inclined to say where my family in L.A. lives but you can believe that I do believe the information that they have given me. However, around the parts of the country where I live we too have cops that kill dogs on site. The main reason for that is so many people here own Pit Bulls. In our small little community Pit Bulls have been banned do the fact that our Police Officers were being attacked when they walked up to someones door. In our area they have the right to just up and drop the dog if they feel threatend by it. I don't think it's right.

If the dog is actually threatening the police then perhaps they do have a right to shoot the animal. Some pet owners have animals trained to keep any and all persons off their property - even to the point of killing that person. I would think it would be on an individual case. Not all pit bulls are vicious. Each animal is different as is the owner. I visit a friend who has the sweetest pit bull. He thinks he's a lap dog and very loving. I've met 6 pound dog breeds who will take your ankle off if your not careful.

Whether they have the right to shoot an animal is not the point here. If you have the time click on the links I posted in my previous email. I think they are informative. None of the dogs left at the schools were dangerous.
