my god, there is the outrage by the people of louisisana +++++++ The only outrage I hear ( and I am actually in the area) are from people who are still sitting waiting for the government to help them. Probably the same people who have had the government help them their entire lives. You can drive around the city ( and I have)and see the progress being made. In areas where the majority of the people who didnt live on government aid live, you could barely tell that 2 months ago a strong hurricane hit the city. In areas where residents who were government dependent live, it looks like a hurricane hit yesterday. FEMA has thousands of trailers sitting in New Orleans waiting for power to be restored ( no power = no trailers) The first holdup on FEMA trailers was due to the lack of communication between the MAYOR of New Olreans and FEMA. It seems to me that the surrounding areas of New Orleans ( which, by the way were hit harder than New Orleans) has their stuff together. FEMA trailers EVERYWHERE. Driving into Orleans Parish ( New Orleans) from St. Tammany Parish ( Slidell ) is like night and day. By the way, Orleans Parish ( run by democrats) are charging residents hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars for building permits while St. Tammany Parish ( run by republicans ) arent charging a dime. Where is the Mayor of NO ? Havent seen him in a while, and I watch New Olreans Nighlty news. Listen to WWL870AMTV.COM and you will here what the actual people of New Orleans are saying.

it is incredible how you republican critizes and accuses the people of being on government help the entire lives because they live in louisiana and the color of their skin. i didnt hear him critize the people in florida who are STILL waiting in line for government help. what is the difference? oh yea, the people in louisiana are black and the people in florida the majority of them arent black. and THIS REPUBLICAN has no compasion for these people in louisiana. THEY LOST THEIR ENTIRE CITY!!!! and he critizes them for wanting help? incredible. this man has no morals nor compasion, BUT SOMEDAY, IT WILL HAPPEN TO HIM AND HE WILL KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE WAITING IN LINE FOR HELP. KARMA, WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND

What MAN are you talking about? If your referring the poster you responded to, Navyvet is a woman. She never made any reference to the color of anyone's skin, nor has she criticized anyone. Let me give you some first-hand information about the storm victims in Florida, since I'm one of them. My home was severly damaged in hurricane Wilma, and I didn't have to wait in line to get help. In fact, FEMA came into my neighborhood and passed out flyers to inform people that help was available. When I called I got through without waiting, and I was treated courteously and respectfully. It turns out I may be eligible for a low-interest loan to repair my property. FEMA is paying for people who lost their homes to stay in hotels and/or providing trailers for them to live in. FEMA also provides unemployment compensation to people who lost time at work as a result of the storm, even if they didn't lose their job. Sure there were lines to get food and water immediately after the storm. But we were all told to stock up on food and water before the storm. There was no reason to be stuck in a line other than failure to prepare for a disaster that we were warned about well in advance. After the first couple of days there weren't any lines. And there were so many distribution sites that we had our pick and choice of where to go for a free meal! Now you complain that this MAN has no compassion for the people in Louisiana who lost their entire city. I've got news for you - this WOMAN is one of those people in Louisiana who lost her home to Katrina. Read her other posts. It's been two months now and she still doesn't have electricity. She's living in a travel trailer, and had to gut her entire house because of water damage. She's still waiting for insurance adjusters, and doing most of the work (including cutting down trees and taking down fences) herself. All this while she works full-time and goes to school. Don't tell me, her or anybody else that she has no compassion. You need to go back and read her post. She said the government ought to give people a break on the cost of building permits. She talked about the trouble people in Orleans Parish have had getting FEMA trailers, due to miscommunication with the mayor. This isn't a democrat or republican issue. It's a competence issue. It's about government taking care of its citizens.

You are obviously biased, being an armyvet or navy vet doesn't mean you are a "man"... And, this wonderful woman lost most of her home and is living makeshift waiting in line like everyone else for repairs. But given you huge compassion for the poor and black, I'm hoping to hear you put your money where your "posting" is, give it to them, go down and work in their behalf, give up what you have to help them live ... unless you can talk it but not walk it...which I find the ultra end liberals do. Or, and I suspect you aren't even a liberal, just someone who enjoys playing the role. It's a game, a persona. I haven't seen very much credible in your posts but slamming everyone. What actions are you taking in their behalf?

first if all i cannot know if this person is a man or a woman. navyvet critized the people for waiting in line for help and assumed "all these people waiting in line have been on government help all their lives" that is an insult for these people in new orleans, wise up because you can be in one of these lines someday. and i have huge compassion for the poor and the black since i critized navyvet for insulting in my opinion the poor and in the black. i would go and help but i have a job, to pay the bills and support my family. when cowards in my opinion insult people waiting in line for government help and insult them as those who wait in line have been in government help all their lives, i will speak out. if you haven seen my name, i am liberal thank you very much. and if your trying to find out more about me, i suggest for you to get a job and get a life. i could care less if you say my posts are 'much credible', but then again, those without a brain nor common sense will say but i like talking with people who have different points of views. and insulting them the same way for saying dumb things, just like sean hannity and bill oreilly does. wise up little one, its time for bed for you.

After your 40 hour work week, how to you contribute to your poor black community...do you sit and post, or do you volunteer. That is my point. Adult illeracy, do you volunteer? animal rescue? food giveaways, toys for tots...You just talking does not pass much of a snicker test that you care...

Interesting thread, I'm enjoying the banter...proud_liberal_000, I like your style, you make some great points and obviously are very knowledgeable and intelligent!..When they start getting on you for something like not knowing armyvet or navyvet could be a women you know they are running out of fuel and your getting your point across and winning the discussion, I'm impressed as to way way you handle yourself in a two-three on one situation, guess truth does matter...Good work...~Raddy~ And thank you for protecting the streets not many here are appreciative of the service your doing and most always look at the negative side!

When they start getting on you for something like not knowing armyvet or navyvet could be a women you know they are running out of fuel and your getting your point across and winning the discussion, ++++++++= LOL, there isnt any winners here and obviously you havent read my post. I have plenty of fuel because I see it with my own eyes. I also have video proof that the majority of New Orleans has not been touched, 3 months after the storm. The eye of the hurricane passed 10 miles to the east of my house. Its obvious that something bad happened there but it's also obvious that people in my town didnt wait for the government to help them get the job done. The mayor of New Orleans is keeping the poor black and white people out of the city. The reason I always correct somebody when they assume that I am a man is because many women have died while serving their country and the fact that women can be veterans too , does not need to be overlooked.

She said it pretty plainly and clearly in her posts. If you had read them you would already know. 1.) The price for building permits is inhibiting the recovery process. 2.) People who's homes have been damaged need temporary housing to return to the city. FEMA has provided trailers, which proliferate the surrounding area. But people in Orleans parish have had trouble obtaining the FEMA trailers that have been allocated for them, due to miscommunication from the mayors office. 3.) Although the school buildings are standing without much damage, the schools haven't been opened. Most people want to live in a place where their children can go to school.

1.) The price for building permits is inhibiting the recovery process. -THIS IS A LEGAL PROCESS TO ASSURE THE PEOPLE WILL BE LIVING IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT, THIS IS NOT JUST IN NEW ORLEANS, BUT IN CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, WHERE NATIONAL DISASTERS OCCUR. THIS IS SET UP BY EACH STATE. THIS IS NOT THE GOVERNOR'S FAULT, MUCH LESS THE THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS. THESE ARE REGULATIONS EACH, CITY, AND STATE MUST FOLLOW. 2.)due to miscommunication from the mayors office. -MAYBE YOU SHOULD GIVE THEM SOME CREDIT, THEIR CITY WAS UNDER WATER A FEW MONTHS AGO, THEY ARE BERELY GETTING THE ENTIRE CITY BACK IN ORDER. 3.)the schools haven't been opened. Most people want to live in a place where their children can go to school. -MAYBE BECAUSE NOT ALL THE PEOPLE HAVE COME BACK FROM WHERE THEY WENT!!! WE STILL HAVE PEOPLE IN TEXAS, ETC AND THESE BUILDINGS NEED TO BE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE SAFE FOR TEACHING, ETC. EVERYONE NEEDS TO HAVE PATIENCE, GEEZ A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE ENTIRE CITY WAS UNDER WATER!

Like I said , in other areas they arent charging anything for the permit that you have to haev.

I AM JUST TELLING YOU HOW EACH STATE AND CITY, COUNTY DOES IT. IT IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE WAY THEY CHARGE, complain! but not here online, in person.

MAYBE BECAUSE NOT ALL THE PEOPLE HAVE COME BACK FROM WHERE THEY WENT +++++++++++ You have to give them something to come back too. There is a law that FEMA has, a school has to be checked within 30 days of the storm or they will not pay for the repairs. Believe me every school in NOLA has been checked.

HOW IS THE MAYOR OF NEW ORLEANS KEEPING THE POOR BLACK AND WHITE PEOPLE OUT OF THE CITY? ++++++++++ By not opening schools that didnt receive any damage during the hurricane. By having curfews in areas that dont need them, by charging extremely high rates for building permits. By making it his priority to get tourists to come back but not doing anything to help the residents come back.

NOT OPENING SCHOOLS. -they need to check them out, make sure they are safe to be reopened, how many schools in new orleans are there?? it will take time!!!! they are doing a million things at once, the safety of these children is the first priority so they need to make sure these schools are 100% safe for these children. CURFEWS -what areas are you talking about? BUILDING PERMITS -like i said before, this is the same like in california florida where national disasters happen. their first priority is the safety of the people in safe buildings. if you dont like the high price, GO COMPLAIN, BUT NOT IN HERE!! TOURISTS -LOL, new orleans was under water a few months ago!!! what is open right now in new orleans? tell me. i want you to come up with an idea to bring back tourists to new orleans.
