http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pastdec.shtml hmmm, for those that think global warming is causing all the hurricanes, this is a very nice chart...that shows really bad hurricanes in 1800's and early 1900's, unless global warming was worse back them :)

I have been looking for a link that shows statistics like that. I don't believe that global warming is causing the hurricanes and I hear it from time to time on the local stations and from my grandparents that the hurricanes in the early 1900s were more frequent and more powerful than they are now. I think the reason everyone is making such a big deal with this years hurricanes is because since Andrew in 95 we haven't really seen this much destruction and devastation.

Global warming has nothing to do with the hurricans... It seems that the main issue is that every so often a severe hurricane is due. There is really no scientific evidence to support the Global Warming causing hurricanes theory. The most that Global Warming is going to do is cause the polar caps to melt, Ocean levels to rise, and flooding. It may also cause life as we know it to cease to exist. If you look back further in time wasn't in an essence global warming that killed the Dinosaurs? Global Warming that melted the Ice from the Ice Ages? History always has a way to repeat itself...Alot of people would say that it was climate chagnes that melted the ice and killed off the dinos. But what caused that climate to change?
