As amazing as it may seem, dozens of animals are still being rescued every day by Best Friends Animal Society in the areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina. There are thousands of cats and dogs that still need to be rescued. The official intake center in Gonzales, Louisiana was closed in early October, but this wonderful organization from Utah is still working tirelessly to rescue every animal that needs to be rescued. If you go to their website at www.bestfriends.org you can sign a petition to help complete the rescue efforts. I am asking all animal lovers to help raise awareness about the heroic and selfless work that Best Friends Animal Society is doing every day to save lives in the Gulf Coast.

all of the animal rescue people have done a wonderful job. I was able to volunteer some of my time a few weeks back to help out Noah's Wish stationed in Slidell, by walking dogs. It broke my heart to walk into that warehouse but I knew the dogs needed some one on one attention, so I did it. As soon as my finances get straight I will donate to every organization that has helped out in the New Orleans area.

Best Friends has an amazing donation base and support base. millions of dollars a year and they do a great job. I have the deepest respect for their organization.

I lost my 2yr fem spayed lab w/black spots on tongue in Katrina. Lord knows I've spent hrs on computer & visited many locations in La & Houston. Now this Ark. Baxter deal. Some don't care but I'd pay $$$$$ to have Princessa found. We need a no fail system for people like me trying to find her. Considering some pet owners did not try. Its not fun dealing with HSUS because they too are overwelmed.Suppose my dog was one left abused X2 in Baxter, Ark and who knows elsewhere.
