This is so true!! My boyfriend who is an environmental analyst, is trying to atleast change this in our part of the world, which is California. It'll be hard to convince these companies to change their wasteless idea of advertisement...but, if the consumers help demand changes, there won't be much of an incentive. So, what we, as consumers and concerned citizens need to do, is write (email or snail-mail) to these companies and ask them to change their ways and/or to eliminate you from their mailing list.
