That wont work because ANYTHING can become a religion to people. Science is a religion to many folks. Money is a religion to many folks. You name it and people will worship it...in their own ways. The same intensity is there whatever it is. Nazi Germany was basically a secular race loving country ....Stalinist Russia was a secular country ...Two very violent thinking countries at the time. If human beings want to be violent they will be violent for any "cause". That is an EASY pattern to see.

Madge is entirely right that there is a distinct difference between theocracy and religion. Religion represents the freely chosen, inherent belief of individuals. Theocracy is a form of government that imposes religious principles on its citizens, thus eliminating freedom of choice.

Or atleast the bad ones..ok thats all of them. One problem with getting rid of religion if thats your aim, is that the religiously inffected wont have anything held over their head to keep them from going ape chit. They cant seem to fathom how to be good humans without being told. Somebody needs ot figure out how to make the religiously inffecteds better humans. Their religion aint doing a very good job of it as evidenced by the fact that they are over represented in our nations prisons. If one had the mind to examine the stats, one could conclude that religion makes one more prone to criminality.

lowspeed ..you are a very biased person and you are so so wrong. What you see as religion is not the full definition of religion. A religion can be anything to people. Even an atheist. What motivates people to crime and any wrong doing is far beyond "god" or any "religion" ....It is personal to the criminal and can happen (the crime) for many different reasons. Many very evil things and immoral things are perfectly legal and a person will never see a days worth of prison for them. Many things that make society go are perfectly evil and immoral. But that is the world. Nothing can be done about it until the end of the world...lol Evil destroys itself so there is nothing really to do except put your feet up and wait.

The Treaty of Westphalia at the end of the bloody Thirty Years War called for the separation of church and state in the late 1600's. People are very resistant to all such externally imposed restrictions, and the entire period of modern history has been a long succession of wars for one reason or another. Change must come from within individuals.

I agree change must come from within individuals and it will come. When there is no other choice. It happened to the dinosaurs. Look for the new star in the sky. it will come ..soon.
