Why is IBM building a petascale supercomputer system for Saudi Arabia with plans for an exascale system (1000 times as fast as petascale) when Hewlett-Packard laboratories and Georgia Institute of Technology are just now planning an exascale supercomputer capable of 1000 petaflops or 10 x 18 flops for America useful for national defense...among other things.

Are these corporations selling America down the drain?  Is there anyone on the Internet who can explain this action?  Do these companies understand how to communicate with the people of their home country, or do they care?  Of course, one would imagine that our government and military are aware of this action and approve...Who knows?  It all feels strange to me!  I get the feeling that these people live in some kind of la-la land where only the all-might-dollar has meaning.  Maybe their head is in a cloud and they just don't communicate well with the ordinary layman, or maybe, we need to take away their cloud.

Maybe they aren't aware that Middle Eastern countries have said that they would like to bury the West!  Are they naive about the intent of some of these Middle Eastern autocratic nations or has the meaning changed.  I'd like to understand.

I'm not one to decry all Middle Eastern or Muslim peoples.  But what is going on?  I feel like a voting American citizen totally left out of the loop.  Science and technology are America's real advantage in this world.  If we are sold down the river before these autocratic nation change where does that leave America...DEFENSELES!

To make a short statement, what I’m witnessing on the news lately is that the Soviet Union – I mean, Russia – is threatening the Ukraine, Georgia, and making military deals with Venezuela; China, a back door enemy of the U. S., take its first spacewalk and plans to go to the Moon within a decade…using the West money and its own peoples slave labor; the Middle East is soaking up some $700 billion of American’s hard earned money for oil while the American government plans to bailout Wall Street, and has no plans for energy independence or desires to help some 47 million Americans who don’t have health insurance, etc.  What is going on?

As a layman, I've always had an endearing  interest in science, but I don't understand this one.  (Truck driver/miner Web Page GOOGLE keyword "Dr. Warpenstein" or "drwarpenstein.com".

Every public company has a fiduciary duty to its shareholders to maximize its value, which entails keeping the stock price up, which entails maximizing profits.   Accepting a large-scale contract is one way to do that.

Now, if you have solid evidence of treason, I hope you'll be a good American and present that evidence to the proper authorities.  Otherwise, let the company make its money and keep employing its (mostly) American tax-paying workers.
