Why is everyone bashing Yahoo about this? Microsoft wants Yahoo because the future lies in the number of eyeballs you have access to. Yahoo has a tremendous number of users that Microsoft wants to peddle products to. Yahoo also has better search functionality that MSN (MSN's search is a joke) and they want to incorporate the technology. What would Yahoo get out of it? The shareholders might get money but the employees would have a very different and far more restrictive culture to work within. The US is worried about being left behind in terms of tecnhnology and development so why do we have this huge push for everyone to merge or be acquired? Hasn't anyone noticed that the bigger the company the shorter they are on vision and ethics?  Plus, Microsoft software is always very buggy so who knows what Microsoft innovation would do to Yahoo technology. Yahoo has solid growth and lots of potential so it will be fine on it's own. Microsoft should back off!

I dont know... personally I think Google has way to much power right now. I am not a big fan of Microsoft either, not from their monopoly game, but because their search engine sucks! If Microsoft does get Yahoo one day I sure hope they take up after Yahoo and not the other way around.

Nrgeticseed,

Yes I am with you - there is a real danger of Google getting too powerful, and Yahoo have the chance to provide the right kind of balance.

Although I say balance - Google has about 43 percent to Yahoos 28 percent the last I looked.

I for one hope that Yahoo stays independant, if Microsoft take them on, all the nice innovation with toolkits that work in every browser will die quickly.

I think with the partnership between Yahoo and MSN, Google will have some competition their hands and balance out market share of search a lot better. Google is very powerful, nothing can stop that now, its the huge beast in the room but its good to see Yahoo and MSN are still in the race. Yahoo is still big for search but it will become a huge content portal for finance, sports, etc having that search option that is powered by Bing, owned by MSN.

Im a fan of yahoo but the fact that Google has gained that much power is not good for anyone but google. But everyone who is bashing google are the ones using them as well.

Use the search engine you really like and try dont get influenced by media and other channels.

Yahoo isnt that great of a search engine. The results when using the search engine is not the same as google. You dont get prominent websites for whatever subject your looking at. However, their front page is far superior than googles.

Yes indeed, Google is the major search engine. And I think it's got so far it always will remain the major one.
