An apparent "new family" of GPS product was featured on GMA Weekend, 27 April 2008.  Can anyone tell me the product name or guide me to the a recording of the segment aired today.

A few years ago, when I played with the Air Force on the GPS III study, there were two major manufactures of GPS equipment; Garmin (civilian) and Trimble (military). Today there are Magellan and Leica. I don't know if the military is into either of the new efforts. Leica is foreign, so I doubt the military in interested but NATO and the Europeans are.

If there is anything new in GPS user equipment, these manufactures would have what you're looking for. <--- preposition; tisk, tisk, tisk.

I just thought of this. The Europeans have launch two space vehicles for their GPS constellation. Could that be what GMA was discussing?

both the Euros and Rossia want to have their own GPS constellation for a variety of reasons, mostly because the military has their hand on the cut-off button in case of hostilities.
