When I moved to East Texas from Fort Worth, I wrote a letter to the Editor of the local newspaper, The Wood County Democrat, wishing that our town had a curbside recycle program.  I'm sure plans had already been discussed, but perhaps my letter was the stoker that made it happen for all the towns in Wood County.  Once again, I recently sent another letter to the newspaper to let everyone know about the new reusable cloth shopping bags for sale at our local grocery store.  Imagine the amount of plastic bags nationwide in our landfills!

Recycling is not a new concept.  I have been composting,  & recycling for 40 yrs.  It is sometimes difficult because you have to travel quite a distance sometimes to do your recycling but I have had a good time in the past, trying to figure out new ways to cut down on things like grocery bags & saving energy.  I feel that educating my kids & grandkids about it has made a difference.  My motto is "do what you can, when you can".  I see changes every day about the way people think "Green".
