Dear People,
I don't know about all of you but I'm a bit sick and tired of watching the prices at the pump continue to work their way skyward while big oil continues to see billions of dollars in NET profits every #### quarter. The biggest frustration I have is the fact that if Big Oil REALLY DID feel our pain, as they have been claiming in their full page ads in the various newspapers around the country, then why don't they drop the price at the pump by a dollar a gallon? Then instead of taking in $18 billion in net profit every three months, take in a mere $4 billion??? Is $4 billion Net not enough??? Oh, and by the way let me remind you that's AFTER all the bills are paid.
I'm puzzled every evening when the news goes on and on about when are we going to see more alternative fuels, hybrids, greener cars, greener this, greener that, when in fact, I wish ANYONE OF THEM would ask the question I just asked to the Oil Company Execs? Is it due to advertising dollars to the networks that deters correspondents from asking a question that really needs asking? I mean, doesn't ANYBODY want to know WHY the oil companies cannot take a few billion dollars less to help relieve some of the sting at the pumps??? Am I the ONLY person in America who is thinking this? Christ, I hope not! And I KNOW I AM NOT, but I'm not a correspondent on TV standing there asking all the pundits about what we need to do to help stave off this oil gouging we're now feeling... blah, blah, blah. What-ever!
We've been talking about alternative fuels, hybrids, raising the fuel threshold for mpg for well over the past decade! Hell, two decades. The car manufacturers are producing the cleanest running vehicles in history but they are the ones who continue to be asked for more, more, more (along with we consumers). When is ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE, going to step up and ask Big Oil what they are going to do to help relieve the burden of cost at the pump??? Seriously, instead of them reaping windfall profits every #### quarter to the tune of $18 to $20 billion dollars, why the Hell can they NOT drop the price by a dollar a gallon and take less??? SOMEONE, PLEASE, tell me why, I'm all ears!?
And let me add that while they are taking a bit less, could they not also work on less speculating on the cost per barrel that drives the prices up, up, up? Everyone is being sold a bill of goods about the cost of oil when it's all due to complete and utter speculation by the industry in driving those prices per barrel up... In the past we had Katrina, or a Tsunami, or any number of natural disasters that gave the oil companies excuses for the cost of oil being higher. Oh yeah, let's not forget all the refining excuses about changing over to winter fuel, then summer fuel, then having raccoons eating through the electrical, etc. Not so much that OPEC was demanding it, just the fact that they 'thought' it might go up, so hey, let's just raise it anyway before it happens! WHO THE HELL THOUGHT OF THAT LOGIC?
Anyway, I'm just fed up with this entire situation and I feel we are being sold such a bill of goods right now. And buying another Prius is NOT going to solve the problem, no matter how noble you feel it to be. Let me know how it feels when all of you need to either dispose or replace those batteries in the future....

You raised some good questions. But here's a question that should be asked AND answered by ABC. Why did the auto manufacturers in the US make 'EV's (electric vehicles) and then when the laws in California were changed and they were no longer required to make the EV cars did the manufacturers recall or terminate the leases under which all these EV's were put on the market? Why did GM recall these EV's to Arizona and then CRUNCH the cars? No one watched this happen but one small documentary film maker and the film he made has gone UNNOTICED by the general public.

Tell me ABC, why did Ford recall all their EV's under the premise of not meeting the safety standards for vehicles when in fact the Ford Ranger EV had a BETTER crash rating than the gasoline version of the same vehicle? Why would any serious news reporter let this go unchallenged? This summer our gas prices will top $5.25 a gallon and no news agency will honestly report the existence of a viable alternative to burning gasoline. It's like "Dumb and Dumber" going on and no one will hold the oil companies responsible. What a bunch of Lemmings! America: Turn OFF the gasoline, DEMAND electric vehicles that cost less than $20,000 (because they actually do cost less than that to make)

ABC, it’s time to revisit your efforts to get electric vehicles BACK on the road. It’s time to change our dependancy on Oil. All oil not just foreign oil! Electric cars go 150 to 200 miles per charge, go from Zero to 60 in under 8 seconds and now look good doing so. ABC Execs, help make a wave on this issue and get some things done.
