John Walsh is a man who knows a unique pain not many of us understand. This was a fairly informative report and yet I become enraged every time I hear about police confusion in these investigations. And both of the people strongly suspected of the crime are gone. No rest for this case about Adam yet, I hope it will be forthcoming.
John Walsh works to catch the bad guys. He has also brought up the awareness of our whole nation regarding child abduction. Because of his work many children are saved and recovered now where 25 years ago they would not have had a chance.
The report also brings to my mind a couple of aspects I think are worthy of further reports:
First how can we stop these crimes. Frankly anyone watching a child being thrown into a vehicle may not know what to do. What would you do if you saw a child being abducted? Are there any cases on record where people effectively stopped an abduction? It bothers me because I see children misbehave all the time and you can't tell if it is their parent/guardian trying to get cooperation or a stranger. If I saw a kid struggling to go in a car I honestly would not know if it was a real abduction or a parent with an unruly child.
Second, as sick as it is I would like to know who these predators are. What tactics do they have in common? Why do they do this? Can anything stop them? Do they do it to create child molestation products like pictures and videos? How often do police discover such items? How much money is really involved in crimes against children?
And what is a real statisitic about missing children from stranger abduction? Has the department of justice released any new information lately? How big of a problem is this?
Finally can we get some information and reports about the Adam Walsh act? This is fairly new legislation and on AMW John has said some of the legislators are dragging their feet to implement it. What are the details of the legislation that wil have the greatest impact? And how much progress has been made.
We know that many of the things people are doing now like Amber Alert system and quick response with media coverage has helped to recover many children. The Polly Klass act has also made a difference. Please give us a comprehensive run down on the crimes and the new laws and how much has it changed things?
John Walsh is one of my heroes in life. In many ways I know he would rather he was just an anonymous type guy who no one knew about with an uneventful life. He turned his pain into motivation to help others - even the whole nation - to be aware and practice safety with our children.
You would think by now the police would have adequately investigated and solved his son's murder case 25 years is a long time to just sit on a case and not have it solved with so much evidence and tips having been given. It also gets me upset to think the Adam Walsh act has turned into some placebo of pity legislation for a brave father. Please report further so this case can be solved and the legislation can really be implemented!
