I am appauled that it was even asked in the coverage of this story, "Why didn't she just leave?"  I am even more appauled that a viewer wrote in blaming her for endangering the children.

It was not Susan's fault.  Why didn't Diane Sawyer ask "Why doesn't he just stop abusing her?"  Why didn't the viewer blame him for endangering the children?

This is appauling.  No more victim blaming.  Primetime should air a retraction on that question alone.  This is absurd.

Primetime is complicit in perpetuating the myth that domestic violence is the victim's fault for not leaving, rather than the perpetrator's fault for continuing to abuse their parner.
