My daughter placed a baby boy for adoption through Buckner in Dallas. That baby turned 16 in June this year and we also thought we had the semi-open adoption which Buckner calls Touch Adoption. We were suppose to receive monthly pictures for the first year and then every year on or around his birthday. After his first birthday we never received any more updates. Buckner informed us through one of their birth mother meetings that this is strictly a voluntary request. Once the state finalizes the adoption process they are not required by law to keep in touch. Buckner now requires all their adoptions to be open and they think this scared the adopted parents and they choose not to stay in touch. You need to do a follow-up on how many girls who place a child for adoption get pregnant again to try to replace that baby they lost. My daughter got pregnant again by the same birth father within a year of placing Nathan for adoption. We choose to help her keep this baby and hope in the future that he can reunite with his brother, if we can find him. It's up to Nathan to go to Buckner to find his records. Besides my mother's death this is one of the most emotional things I have ever been through.
