In March of this year, a little girl named Summer Phelps died at the hands of her biological father and step-mother. This little girl was physically abused to death. The Department of Social and Health Services had planned to start an investigation into the death of Summer this past June, but the prosecutor says he wants the state to delay the investigation until AFTER the criminal trial.

Jon and Adriana Lytle currently are scheduled to stand trial on charges of homicide by abuse on January 28th, 2008.  This is what the news article had about what Summer endured at their hands. This couple also have a baby together. There is a petition to have these two - and other child abusers resulting in death and child predators tried and charged as cop killers would be. SPOKANE -- New court documents reveal horrific allegations of abuse against a Spokane couple. Adriana Lytle and Johnathan Lytle appeared in court this afternoon. They're both being held on $500,000 bond. The four-year-old toddler was brought to Deaconess Medical Center just before midnight Sunday with traumatic injuries. Detectives say there's evidence the little girl was beaten with a belt, broom and ladle and was even forced to wear a shock collar. Court records show there was also evidence of burn marks and bite marks on the girl's body. Police say she was found unresponsive in a bathtub in the couple's downtown apartment. Prosecutors say she was forced to wash clothes and pick-up garbage.
