Just Curious, It has been 10 full day's since the loss of Peter, I was just wondering how many of us have stuck out the commitment this long? Not the ones vowing to quit, but the ones that quit that day? I am 1

I quit the day I heard the news that Peter had lung cancer - April 5th. I had planned to quit, but that certainly reinforced it. I've remained smoke free since. Since Peter's death, I've been more determined than ever to not smoke again.

I had a two-cigarette/day habit that died with PJ. I'm on Day 10! Have also signed up at the JenningsEffect Site. I'm surprised that the sign-up list is so short, considering the overwhelming sense of loss that his death has created. Good Luck To Fellow Quitters! Connie

the website is www.thejenningseffect.com And I am also surprised that there was such an overwhelming amount of people saying they were quitting, and the low amount on the Jennings Effect website. And the majority of those are are future quitters..Which is great! But what happened to all the ones saying they quit that day, as I did? Stay Strong all, Nancie

I'm on Day 11! For some reason, it's been harder yesterday and today. I was feeling a void yesterday and turned off WNT last night. This afternoon, I did a little venting by posting my thoughts. See Posted Message: "A Perspective On Our Grieving Process-Share Your Views!" It helped! Stay Strong Fellow Quitters - It Ain't No Walk In The Park (as they say)! julauded

Hi, Day 11 here now also, and yea...same here.last couple days tough. But then again, everyday is at some point. My biggest problem is our weather. It is so depressing, all I want to do is smoke. LOL I live in San Francsico, and I know 1 Mark Twain quote has been used, But here goes another "The coldest winter I ever spent, Was a Summer in San Francsco" And he's not fooling. We havn't seen the sun here in weeks :-( Gas costs to much to go find it.....OH WELL..lol Stay Strong All

I live in Chippawa (Niagara Falls) Canada - we've had a summer of brutal heat and humidity. Lots of sun, but unbearable. Almost no rain to speak of. The last couple of days though have been high 70s with little humidity - I can't wait for winter (even started Christmas shopping!). When you get one of those urges that just about send you running to the corner store, go to Jenningseffect site (Home) and watch that dear face emerge. If that doesn't quell the urge, not much will. Keep up the good work everyone. I quit back on April 22nd, and believe me when I say I was a heavy smoker. It gets easier as time goes on, but I still get the urge sometimes to want a cigarette. I just put my mind on something else and it doesn't bother me. My Aunt died from lung cancer exactly 2 weeks before Peter Jennings. So I was very motivated to quit.

There really is no superman! We are all vulnerable! It Really can happen to us, no one is ammune :-( Stay Strong All Nancie

Don't foget the sunscreen - there's more than one way to die of cancer!! Have fun - my son is doing Disneyland with family friends in October (over our Thanksgiving week-end). At 17 I'm sure he'll fully appreciate it. I'm on Day 11! - it's going ok. Off to do errands today, so my mind will be off it. Have a Good Day and to those offering support, keep it coming - we all appreciate it! Connie

Congratulations to all of you who have made this huge step because of Peter. I am sure he would be so touched by his impact on this very personal part of your lives. You can do it, one day at a time, one breath at a time. Be strong, and remember Peter with this tribute to him!

Well, I didn't get to go to Disneyland this weekend as hoped...Things come up. Before the site closes, I would like to thank everyone for their support to those of us trying to quit smoking. Your kind words of support are really helpful! I will stay strong to quitting! Not only in Peter's memory, but for myself and my family! I WILL be a Jennigs Effect success! Stay Strong all, Nancie

DAY 14 (incl. the 8th) I realized yesterday that at sudden stress-heightened moments the urge ambushes me without warning. My brain became so experienced at succumbing to those moments with a "cigarette alert", it will likely take time for it to make the adjustment to not reacting. For example, yesterday my son arrived home after two months at camp. He got off the bus and the ensuing emotionality brought on "the urge". Anyone else experience this? Keep the faith everyone! Regards, Connie PS: Nancie, how's the weather in CA today - we're down to 70s, thank Mother Nature. After this summer I can empathize with people in tropics - it leaves you physically exhausted by day's end (and grouchy!) Can't wait to see the first snow flakes.
