I too have been pondering Peter's successor. While I've enjoyed Charles and Elizabeth, at this point,Bob Woodward is my first choice. Like Peter, Bob's entire personna corresponds with what, over time, we came to like about Peter. He is young, charasmatic, and has "boy next door" looks and appeal. In addition, like Peter,he presents himself as being professional and knowledgeable. Also,as a correspondent he has travelled extensively, providing firt-class reporting. Given the opportunity to develop his own style as an anchor, I'm thinking that Bob could very well do justice to the role of Peter's successor.

I personally think charles Gibson would be the perfect successor. He has demonstrated the same qualities as Mr.Jennings-knowledge,compassion,& integrity. He has experience, charm and a "down to earth" attitude that all who watch can connect with.It will be difficult for anyone to sit in that chair but I believe Mr. Gibson can do it..

Bob Woodward-by far the best to sit in Peter's chair. No one can replace Peter.

I have thought about Peter's successor and the one person that comes to mind more over is Charles Gibson. I have been watching Charlie since he replaced David Hartman on Good Morning America. I also have had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago and think he is one of the nicest, kindest gentleman with a rare since of humor that I have ever met especially in his postion. I have watched Charlie step up to the plate more often than anyone other than Peter to report the news and world events as they happened. He is a professional and also represents himself as a human being that can feel and understand our feelings in the time of terror and horror. If anyone could honor Peter and do justice I believe Charlie is the man, anchor and correspondent that can do just that. If he was to receive this postion I can honestly say I would truly miss him at Good Morning America. That is the only News Morning Show that I have ever watched and will continue to watch with the people at ABC News. Like Peter Jennings there is on one Charles Gibson and I know he would be missed greatly. He and Diane both are great! Sincerely, Dawn Wortham, Winter Haven, Fl.

I personally favor Elizabeth Vargas. She does such an impeccable job, and I think its time a network takes the lead with a female anchor at its helm. She has that flare with a voice that truely speaks for the upcoming story. Charles Gibson is great too, but I don't think GMA would be quite the same without him.

If it is time for a woman to anchor the nightly news I nominate Diane Sawyer.

As hard as it will be to give up Charlie on GMA, I think he is the one for the job.

I've been watching ABC news for years. Peter Jennings has been the main reason for my devotion to ABC news. I will sadly miss him. But ABC is full of journalists who do a great job of repoting the news. In my mind there is no one who can fill Peter's shoes. The best replacement for Peter Jennings is Elizabeth. She will not be seen as someone replacing Peter. Rather she will chart a new course for ABC news. My vote is for Elizabeth!

My vote is for Elizabeth! First she is 42 years old and can bring the younger set of people to WNT. And she has proven herself many times over and she can do it. Let's give to her.

Concerned Folk: These several months, we have remained steadfast in our support of World News Tonight as we hoped for news of Mr. Jennings that we wanted to hear, not that which we are now trying to cope with. We have had opportunity to watch several others take their turn at the anchor desk. It seems to me that Mr. Gibson indeed had found his niche with GMA and that Ms. Vargas has found hers with 20/20. I would support the original vote for Bob Woodruff. To me, he has the potential to handle World News Tonight in the way Mr. Jennings did. We have seen him on site internationally: the tsunami, St. Peter's square, London, Iraq. And we have seen his approach to domestic issues in the field: Cape Cannaveral. He seems comfortable at the desk and seems to present in a more humane, less cryptic, manner than some others. The WORLD NEWS aspect needs to be preserved as part of Mr. Jennings' contribution to us as well as to ABC, and I wonder if Mr. Woodruff could not handle it more in the way Peter has than others.

I agree- Bob Woodruff is the best person to replace Peter. I think that everyone can agree that Peter is irreplacable. But, Bob Woodruff would do an outstanding job as anchor for the evening news. He has a fresh face, he is eloquent and compassionate when he delivers the news, and he has experience working in the field- just like Peter did (not to the same extent, of course). I also like Charlie. But, Charlie and Diane have such a great rapport on GMA. I think that he would be better off staying on GMA-since the ratings will inevitably drop if he leaves the morning show. Bob would be a perfect pick for the anchor job. But, I would be happy with either Charlie or Bob. I am not a big fan of Elizabeth Vargas.

I like Charles G. But I guess I grown to see him as a more casual, morning personality. My vote is for Bob Woodruff. He is young, charismatic, stern, yet softspoken. E.

Charlie is the only choice I would be comfortable with. I have watched Peter since Walter Cronkite retired and although the styles were altogether different, Peter eased right into my comfort zone. I think Charlie has the same appeal that Walter had for all those years, kinda like an older brother or uncle telling us what's happening around the world. I also am quite sure that I don't have a clue what Charlie's political persuasion is, which is what I want from my anchorperson. The only problem I see with Charlie moving to nights would be how much I would miss him every morning. He and Dianne start my mornings every Monday through Friday and I would miss him terribly but then there he would be every night so maybe it would be a good trade off. Just my humble opinion.
